Long Eared Owl
Today was a day of finding balance with my photography and my bird watching. I have been so busy lately that I have been taking that stress to the field. I have been rushing to look for birds, to photograph them and to get back to the real world on time. Today I sat in the field above the long eared owls after I got a nice picture. After that sit down I remembered why I was out there and from there I started to notice more birds, bird sounds and relaxed and let the photos happen naturally. I heard the Juncos scurrying through the grasses, the downy woodpeckers drumming on the trees and saw the great horned owl snoozing in the trees. I saw a Great Blue Heron near the lake.I also find myself learning the balance between the actual photography and birding and how that can affect my subject. Getting a good picture and respecting the animals space can be at odds with each other.
