Today was a nice day to be birding as well as to be using a camera, the lighting was pretty darn good. I saw the Great Egret, a Great Blue Heron, a few Killdeer, A friendly Pheasant, a fair number of Mourning Dove, Oregon Juncos, Northern Flickers, a couple House Finch, many Goldfinch, a couple Townsends Solitaire, and a Northern Shrike...( i think). I also saw a Red Tailed Hawk, a Yellow Legs, 3 Bufflehead and a Great Horned Owl, hoot hoot! The Pheasant was the most fun part of the whole trip. I came upon it and noticed it in the weeds about 10 feet from it. I froze and readied my camera. Instead of flying or running away it began to eat and walk around on the trail about 5 or 6 feet from me. I took a bunch of pictures, noticed it had been banded and then left. About 60 feet down the trail I heard noise behind me so I turned around, the Pheasant was chasing me down the trail! I stood there and watched as it got within about 4 to 5 feet from me and began feeding. I walked another 40 or so feet and watched it run through the weeds towards my position. At that point another male pheasant appeared in the trees and my new pheasant friend wandered off towards it. I continued to bird in the sun and ended up seeing some more birds and a few deer. The sunflower area was full of Juncos, Dove, and Goldfinches.

maybe you looked like another little rooster? (:
