10-30-09 Bennington Lake Walk

The walk around the lake was nice, the sun poked out through the clouds and I wandered the area looking for birds. I found Downy Woodpeckers, Oregon Juncos, Common Mergansers, Black Capped Chickadees, one Yellowlegs, Great Blue Heron, House Finch, and two Great Horned Owls. The owls let me get fairly close up for the pictures, and I found one of them because it was making a screeching noise. This is the first time I was able to get pictures with my new camera that I felt good about. The mergansers flying didn't have the correct focus on but I posted it anyways because I liked it. I still haven't seen a Townsend's Solitaires yet this year and have yet to see a Northern Shrike ever. Birding starts back up with my new camera!!
